In 2015, Smart Joules’ operations started with three buildings in the same neighborhood. Each kilowatt saved came down to the sheer grit of our founding team. Every single day, the team was on-site, sleeves rolled up, fine-tuning operations, checking numbers, making sure nothing slipped through the cracks.
Then came the fourth project—more buildings, more opportunity, but also more ground to cover, and in a different part of New Delhi. Quickly, we started losing the pulse of every system in every building, and without continuous tweaking of operating parameters by subject matter experts, the energy savings across all the sites started declining. That day, we understood that consistent energy efficiency at scale could only be driven by automated intelligence.
So, with an intent to integrate intelligence and technology into our future projects, we went scouting for the most suitable BMS, only to find that they were outdated systems that seldom added any value to the building or the operations team, that wouldn't pay back in anything less than ten years, and required yet another set of experts with special training to operate them.
The team came together and built the first indigenous hardware, JouleBox, our roots in smart, homegrown tech.
The team grew to 10 bright minds strong. The entire product team worked out of AHU rooms and chiller plants at customer sites, testing the impact of their work in real time. With the first large-scale deployment in Kolkata, our footprint started to expand.
Received an award from the German Energy Development Agency as the best Digital Energy Saving Remote Project globally for our work at
St. Stephen's Hospital.
The very first sale of DeJoule as a stand-alone product, in a specialty application at a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Gujarat.
Integrated WhatsApp into our BMS. Deployed our first proprietary next-gen controller and extension boards, JouleLeaf, at GKNM Hospital.
Our Chiller Plant Automation is all set to operate atop other traditional BMS and integrating intelligence into buildings at scale
